After three days of widespread, id put a bullet in my head...

Bring an extra bullet for me.. geesh.... it would be like that time I drank all that corn whiskey and the bed spun out of control for 3 days... oh my gawd.. what a headache...

To be honest, I'm starting to not mind the idea of RATM at ACL. Yeah I know it seems they don't fit eith the ACL lineup trend, but isn't the trend more along the line of "good music" instead of just a certain genre? I mean, look at last year. You had everything from Tom Petty to Damien Marley. To me thats a wide spectrum and it was all good. Most certainly if RATM were to play ACL, it would be nice to have them play Firday, that way if there were to be a problem with ridiculous fans there just for them *cough* muse *cough* It would be well over with and we wouldn't have to worry about them all weekend. Just my two cents...

I really don't think Rage would be a good act for ACL.

They need their own venue. I just read an arcticle on Stereogum about how a bunch of RATM fans at Coachella were complete bitches to Crowded House. Apparently, all the RATM fans staked out their places at the stage early in the day, and proceeded to do things like chant "Rage, Rage, Rage, Rage" during other artists sets, and generally be a bunch of rude little fucktards. Apparently Neil Finn of Crowded House (one of my favorite artists, both with CH and solo) got a bottle to the head during "Don't Dream It's Over".

That really just blew me away. I don't doubt that we'd probably get something of the same thing, crazy-fan-wise, if RATM played ACL. Sorry if I sound like kind of a bitch here, I think it would be great to see RATM, but if this is what comes with it, I'll pass.

The Rage Fans at Crowded House were total freaking retards who give real retards a bad name...

They were yelling Rage Rage Rage, Get off the F***ing Stage....

Neil was more than gracious.. I would have unplugged and walked off..

I didn't see him catch the bottle in the head though.. so I wonder about that.... cause I was watching during Don't Dream...

Some of the fans did join in on one song.. and that was about as polite as it got.. The whole set was ruined because of the jerks... And I must say.. Crowded house was fantastic.....

The bottle didn't hit him, but it was meant to. I think they said it was thrown at the start of the song. I'll look for a link.

I really can't understand people like this. I could never imagine being that rude to ANY musical act that put theirself up there, especially one as terrific as Crowded house.

100%. They're great, and I'd love to see them, but not at ACL.

I felt bad for Crowded House, it was being a really good show until the last part where those rage fans came pushing every person in their way. I didnt even could enjoy Manu Chao as I would have like to.

The Rage show wasnt bad neither, i enjoyed that completely. I lost like 20 pounds of sweat in those 2 hours.

I think what makes ACL stand out from every other festival is the general attitude that most of the crowd has. We are all there to hang out at Zilker, watch some good music.  The last thing ACL, the people who have been the last few years, and Zilker park needs is a bunch of roided up rage heads who make life miserable for the other 60,000 people.  I just don't think Rage fits the whole persona that ACL typically has.

That's pretty much dead-on.  Great post, Bob.  It really depresses me about the state of things to see people act in that manner.  I'm certainly not Mr. Prim and Proper, but I'm mature enough to know that making a complete @ss out of yourself and trying to cause injury to others isn't "cool".

I just want a tour, I'll go to that in a heartbeat.  I would enjoy the chance to see Rage at ACL, given my ticket costs and how thus far there are no plans for a tour.  There would be an influx of Rage fans, but it wouldn't be as bad as we make it out to be.  A high number of the tickets have already been sold, obviously to patrons of the festival not expecting RATFM to be playing.  Between remaining three day passes and single day tickets there would be a lot of people there, but nothing like Rock the Bells or Coachella.

That Coachella setlist is KILLER!  Izzy, did you find a video of it yet?  I'd pay a hefty sum to see them play that setlist anywhere in TX or OK.

Actually I believe you can say this about any festival in general. However when it comes to ACL I remember quite a few people generally being pissed off that someone was blocking their view with an umbrella. Or the fact that when you have a crowd that size bringing in their own personal chairs it can make for a hard time to get through the crowd or getting a decent spot for a majority of the shows there.

On top of this I don't think its quite fair that a certain genre of music has to "fit" in with this festival just because its ACL. Other fans can be quite rude, take "Muse" for example since everyone on this board never seems to let it die.

Muse put on a terrific show which  was expected and actually woke everyone up to the fact this is a festival!! Afterward all the "acl" regulars on the message board did nothing but whine and complain about how the younger crowd were too hyper.

God forbid we get some fresh material and bands or even *gasp* some electronica acts. This isn't gezzer fest, we need acts that come from all parts of the music collective. I thought ACL stood for good music, not country or jam bands which seems to be what the acl board regulars seem to want to fill acl with.

I for one would love to see Rage at the show or maybe even Daft Punk if thats even a possibility. Hell throw in Dylan if you want just don't pull a "petty" and demand that you be the only band that anyone can see during your performance.

And I am *very* open minded with my music but 2006 was no where near what 2005 was. 2005 was a definite step in the right direction for becoming a fest that had a wide scope of music. 2006 took two steps back, I really hope to see what they have in mind this year.

You still can't get over the muse stuff. It doesnt have to do with geezer rock, there isnt a person here that is open to all music, even muse, as some one said earlier it wasnt musapalooza......
