I dont think it affects TCV at all. The curfew is only for outdoor shows and Stubbs Jr is the small stage inside by the bar and the bathrooms.

Any guesses for the set length for AC? I'm guessing like 60 minutes, starting right when TCV ends, as that has been the case before in my experience when Stubbs has an indoor show after the headliner.

Sweet mother of god them vultures were fantastic tonight. That was a good old fashioned rock and roll show. Great way to start off the weekend with a bang.

I was disappointed. I thought it just sounded like a glorified QotSA show. JPJ had a couple of really sick riffs, but for the most part, I thought it was mediocre. Not to mention how poor the acoustics were. Stubbs always blows though. The Alberta Cross show was tremendous though. They really rocked.

We must have been watching different bands, or you were too far back.

nope, pretty close to the front. There a lot of mediocre songs in that setlist, and i thought the same again tonight. I really liked the first song, and thought it was incredibly mediocre until scumbag blues. Too much Josh Homme, and it sounds really distorted. Josh Homme is a terrible front man, barely speaking to the crowd and doing nothing but just playing his songs. The reviews saying this band is more than the sum of their parts is ridiculous. Would anyone honestly rather see this band than Led Zeppelin, the Foos, Nirvana or even QotSA? 3/4 is definitely a no, and the 4th is debatable. That to me clearly points to this being a prime example of a band living on reputation over actually gelling as a band.

I agree with davcjohn on this one, although their set at the fest was 1000x times better.  And yes, that Alberta Cross set at Stubbs Jr. was so, so great.

I didn't think the show was spectacular, and the crowd was very mellow.  I was near the back on the hill next to the tent, so I could easily see the crowd in front of me, and most people were standing around, which can be a buzz kill.  The second to last song (I think) had this rift that was stuck in my head all night.  I skipped out on the end of Andrew Bird at the festival to hear that song again while waiting in line for the bathroom, and knowing the bathrooms near the sand pit were a 20 minute wait.

I didn't get to the festival early enough to scout out the good bathroom spots, but that one was by far the worst.  I'm not sure I waited in line more than 5 minutes any other time.

Poncho + 24 oz beer can = never once waited in line for a bathroom the whole weekend, and it was awesome

Myself and all 8 friends with me who bought tickets were extremely disappointed with TCV's... I agree with what was said before about it sounding like a glorified QOTSA show. To me it sounded like everybody just trying to play as loud as possible, but not really anything interesting going on. I do like seeing Grohl back on drums, but just expected a whole lot more than what we got. Even gave them a second chance at Zilker waiting for the YYY's, but still just did not impress me. To me, they were the biggest let down of the weekend.

I'm just not sure I've ever liked a band because the drumming was sweet. Even terrible drumming rarely makes much of a difference (queue Meg White joke)

Extremely disappointed is a bit harsh.  I think everyone's expectations were way too high, and based on the conversations around me, a lot of people didn't like the show because they didn't recognize any songs, which I think is a terrible judge of performance.

The only thing I didn't like was the lack of energy in the crowd, maybe because everyone was waiting for There Goes My Hero or Stairway To Heaven?  I agree it sounded a lot like QOTSA, but it's Josh Homme singing and playing lead guitar, what did you expect?

Each time I started losing energy, I focused my attention on Grohl killing the drums, and that was enough to get me moving again.

The humidity did suck though.

The only thing that got me through that show was watching Dave. I don't like QOTSA, so it didn't surprise me that I didn't care for it. I was hoping though.

I thought the sound was very poor at Stubbs. From my vantage point, pretty far back, the vocals overpowered the instruments, and let me tell you, those vocals sucked! I've heard better karaoke.
I saw Gnarls Barkley at Stubbs last year and didn't have any issues with the sound.

agreed on stubbs. I noticed towards the end they had a monitor past the soundstage that was playing only the vocals. This really weakened the sound and made ACL set > stubbs for me.
