Actually, you saying that reminds me of another reason I didn't go.  The place he was playing has TERRIBLE acoustics.  The room was originally built for the circus and is called the "Shrine Mosque."  and no, it's not coincidence, the Shriners proudly call it home.  I love Bob and really want to see him, but I don't want to set myself up for a broken heart.

I guess you're right. Corrupted, aucoustially adaulterated Bob is worse than no Bob at all...

Apologize if this is a repost, but I found this article searching for Bob Dylan Austin City Limits...kind of interesting tidbits about the tv show.  So if he got his "whale" in Dylan this year,,,does that mean Springsteen is at the top of his list next year?  I know that this guy may have little or no input with ACL Music Fest, but still an interesting read

When people tell Terry Lickona he has the best job in music and television, he’s in no position to argue.
The 59-year-old produces Austin City Limits, the long-running PBS institution now in its 33rd year. Initially a showcase for Austin and Texas songwriting talent, the hour-long show began life humbly, with a Willie Nelson pilot, made in 1974 that ultimately aired in 1976 in 20 markets. Today it reaches 300, and because Lickona’s 30-year production reign is punctuated by well-timed expansions of the show’s musical mandate, it’s become the last word in televised live concerts.

But it doesn’t always run smoothly. Lickona cites a number of memorable on- and off-stage “meltdowns” over the years:
At his first taping in 1980, Ray Charles stops “I Can’t Stop Loving You” mid-song to stop loving one of his Raelettes for singing flat, which earns her a profanity-filled tongue-lashing in front of a drop-jawed audience.
Stevie Ray Vaughan’s first of two appearances is marred by his copious cocaine habit; “He was so wired he didn’t know what he was doing,” Lickona says.

During his taping last year, Ryan Adams throws yet another temper tantrum, hounding his guitar tech mercilessly and pouting on a corner of the stage between songs. “He was just a little brat,” says Lickona.

One sure measure of this formula’s success is that ACL will move to new digs in downtown Austin in 2009. Plans are to accommodate 1,000 fans, but Lickona insists the music-first aesthetic will remain their calling card. So if you’re hoping for rotating stages, drumstick cams5 or pyrotechnic light shows—don’t. And maybe Lickona will finally land the two White Whales he’s been chasing for 30 years: Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dylan.
“We never give up,” he says.

I love how in your messages certain letters will dissapear and reappear way over in the word, and other letters will just go missing completely.

I have no problems with admitting that I cannot spell "Corrupted, acoustically adulterated" without a good couple tries.

From looking thorugh a LOT of his setlists, it seems like All Along the Watchtower and LARS are givens, and he always seems to play them in the encore.

RT you've got my head spinning right now.

Interesting about Stevie Ray Vaughan.  I knew he had substance problems at that time but I didn't know he was wired on blow.  I really didn't think the performance was that bad.  R.I.P Stevie

He was wasted when he played in Minneapolis last.  Cussed out the audience and the city.  Brilliant way to keep fans...

I love Dylan but after seeing him last year I was disappointed. He never played guitar and he seemed drained.
